When You Don’t Want to Quit

It’s one thing when you’re fired up and ready to resist temptation, but what about when you don’t want to leave your sin behind? Perhaps the most familiar parable in all of Scripture reveals something of God’s heart toward those who prefer sin to their relationship with God. In Luke 15, the younger of two sons decides he’s through working the family business and asks his dad to give him his...

Do I Need a Filter to Overcome Porn?

People trying to overcome habitual porn use sometimes resist using an internet filter on their devices. They have varying—and some fairly solid—reasons. I’m afraid it will block things I need access to for work.It will slow down my device too much.I’m a tech guy and know how to get around every filter out there.I want to trust Jesus to deliver me, not a filter.I’m not after behavior...

Was It “Weird” or Was It Abuse?

I remember watching more than one movie when I was a kid that depicted an adult woman initiating an adolescent boy into the ways of sex. Usually, the scenario included a nerdy and relationally insecure kid somehow meeting an adult woman who would take him under her wing romantically and sexually-speaking (Remember Weird Science, anyone?). Struggling? Look to the Cross

The journey toward sexual integrity is a life-long journey. How does that statement strike you? In my experience, it typically hits most people in one of two ways. For some, it brings up a sense of dread. “Ugh! You’re kidding! I can’t keep going like this forever! The journey is too far.” For others, it brings up a sense of offense. “What? How dare you! I’ve made great progress and I’m living in...

The Not-So-Subtle Indicator of Sexual Orientation

I was watching a show a few years ago in which one of the main characters was questioning his sexuality. Sheepishly, he asked a friend how he could know if he was gay. His friend responded that if he really didn’t know, he should have sex with a man to see if he likes it. It’s widely accepted in our age that what defines your sexual orientation is what feels good or right to you. If you’re a man...
