Imagine you’re living in a town of people losing touch with reality. At first, someone calls you by the wrong name, but you think he may just be distracted. But then a neighbor begins calling herself and her kids by the wrong names. Another neighbor begins walking (with great difficulty) everywhere on his hands. And another begins speaking to everyone in a language that doesn’t exist.
Reality is a gift. It connects us to ourselves, to each other, to the created world around us, and to God.
Thankfully, most of us have neighbors who haven’t lost touch with reality like I’ve described above. And yet, many of us do in fact struggle with believing subtle, often imperceptible illusions instead of reality.
For those of us who have struggles with habitual sin, this is most certainly true.
Habitual sin is, in every case, built on that which is not real, that which is not true. Compulsive sin relies on illusion to keep us coming back for more.
In the realm of sexuality, these illusions keep us from seeing, knowing, feeling, and living the true meaning of our bodies, our sexual desires, and sex.
Have you been impacted by these illusions?
I think in the 21st century most of us have. Subtly, imperceptibly, we’ve believed powerfully destructive illusions about man, woman, singleness, marriage, sex, pregnancy, happiness, desire, and love.
What if we’re living in a time built more on illusion than reality?
As Morpheus said to Neo in the 1999 movie The Matrix: “Have you ever had a dream, Neo, that you were so sure was real? What if you were unable to wake from that dream? How would you know the difference between the dream world and the real world?”
I want to invite you to a special event to help open all our eyes to the gloriously beautiful reality God has for all of us. Regeneration is partnering with Grace Fellowship Church to host God, Sex, and the Meaning of Life with Christopher West and Mike Mangione on Friday evening, November 10.
If you want to be refreshed, challenged, and encouraged beyond belief, if you want to “wake up,” then join us and bring your friends and loved ones. I promise, you will not want to miss this. Click here to learn more or to register.
